About Rice Purity Test Lab
Rice Purity Test Lab is an independent quiz platform built to host the standard 100-question Rice Purity Test alongside genuine, data-backed analysis of what scores actually mean.
Why We Built This
Most Rice Purity Test websites copy the same quiz and surround it with fabricated score descriptions. Some go as far as claiming that scoring below 45 indicates a mental disorder. Others describe people who score 76–45 as "introverts lacking social skills." These claims have no basis in data and are actively harmful.
We built Rice Purity Test Lab because the test deserves better context. With over a century of history — from its origins at Rice University in 1924 to its TikTok resurgence in 2021 — the Rice Purity Test is one of the longest-running social exercises in American college culture. It deserves a home that treats it with accuracy, not clickbait.
What Makes Us Different
Every score description, average, and demographic insight on this site comes from real, aggregated data: anonymised surveys of 1,000+ quiz takers, Reddit community polls with hundreds of votes, and academic research from Rice University's own student publications.
We don't judge your score. We don't tell you what to do about it. We provide the test, explain the questions, and show you where your result sits relative to others — using actual numbers, not invented categories.
Our Approach
- Non-judgmental language. Some checked boxes come from experiences that weren't consensual. Our descriptions use neutral phrasing like "these experiences apply to you," never "you chose to do these things."
- Data over opinion. When we say women score roughly 7 points lower than men on average, or that asexual people average 80, those numbers come from documented survey results — not guesswork.
- No score is better. A 97 isn't "better" than a 23. Neither score indicates anything about mental health, character, or worth. We state this clearly and repeatedly.
- Historical honesty. The test has racist, sexist, and heteronormative origins. We document them in our questions page because understanding the history matters.
What This Site Is Not
Rice Purity Test Lab is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rice University in Houston, Texas. The university created the original test as a student project in 1924 but does not own, maintain, or control any online version. We are an independent platform.
This site does not collect personally identifiable information. Your test responses are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to a server. We don't store scores, track answers, or build user profiles.
